G-Force not available in Media Center (Vista Ultimate 64bit)
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition Media Center 64-bit
I too am interested in any news as I have been unable to make use of my subscription for over 8 month's since I upgraded my HTPC.
It may be absurd that Microsoft released WMC in 64-bit but the fact they have and we have it and we keep hounding you for a version of G-Force must give you a Feel Good Factor/desire to shut us up!, no?
Regards,

I have no affiliation with the makers of GF, I just try and help people solve those little probs that can pop up now and then but I will try and give you what I think is the main reason there wont be a 64 bit version of GF anytime soon.Cougar wrote:I too am interested in any news as I have been unable to make use of my subscription for over 8 month's since I upgraded my HTPC.

Since vista is showing itself to be problematic where third party apps are concerned and coupled with the facts that a 64 bit version of GF would probably use tremendous system resources and along with the very small ratio of vista users compared to windows xp users I would say that its not prudent to waste time and effort to develope a program that wont reach as many users. (icbw) but since its been over a year since vista's inception and no 64 bit GF in sight I would let it go. try installing a 32 bit player and use that instead. I know I wont be using vista until all the bugs are worked out and it becomes far more friendly to 3rd party developers.
I could provide links but if you google the phrase below you will find a lot of info regarding vistas problematic nature.
google this, "Problems with vista"

Does it say somewhere before someone downloads and installs this that it won't work in Vista64 WMP? Is that the case? I'm using vista64 and it's not working in WMP. Is there a workaround? I would pay for something like this if it worked. I think most people using vista will eventually be going 64 bit as it's the only way to utilize enough ram for vista to work well. Also, if it doesn't work in 64bit, there should be a warning before I waste my time downloading and installing and reading the forums.

Winamp and Milkdrop are the answer!
G-Force was my preferred visualizer. Since it won't work with 64 bit WMC I have been trying to fill the void it left, and I've found a fantastic solution!
Winamp allows you to navigate to linein:// for the audio input, and the Milkdrop visualizer that comes with it is fantastic! This provides a standalone visualizer that works with whatever audio is playing on the computer. It has a great mode where it replaces your wallpaper. There are 4,000+ presets available for download, so the variety is incredible. And you can create your own presets (visualizations). All free.
So, you can run WMC and use it to play from your library and simply minimize it to see the Winamp/Milkdrop visualization.
I am running 64 bit WMC and this solution works great for me.

64 bit more mainstream with Windows 7?
Do I understand correctly that Windows 7 systems will be 64 bit systems? Does this mean that there will be sufficient users so that it will make sense for GForce to be ported to 64 bit?
The old 32-bit arguments don't work anymore...
Thought I would reopen this thread:
CHALLENGE: try going to Dell and buying a PC with a 32-bit version of Windows 7...you'll find they don't even offer it.
Now that XP and Vista are gone, 64-bit is the standard because people want to take advantage of 4gb+ of ram. I think most people could care less if they have 64-bit apps. So what is puzzling is that Soundspectrum doesn't understand that each time a person buys a new computer, Gforce simply isn't usable.
My Gforce was rendered useless overnight when I went to Win 7 64-bit, I would really like it back....

GF is now compatible with windows 7 64 bit
Still no support for Win 7 64-bit Media Center
Are you sure? The website FAQ still says: "...G-Force does not currently support the 64 bit versions of Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center."
Since the world is now going 64-bit and Media Center is available in every version of Windows 7...a hopeful request that Soundspectrum will step up to the bar in 2010 and create a version that works with 64-bit Windows 7 Media Center. The days of people playing audio/video through a standalone Media Player are over...sorry to say.
