Problems with Sprites and Particles
First off, I love this visualizer... it's absolutely amazing! I see great potential down the road, once I get my live act together and figure out the best way to display it (and have acquired the appropriate license.)
But, as for customizing… I'm an artist/musician; not a programmer/mathematician. Fortunately, the built-in toolbar should give me most of the control I need. There are a few areas where I'll have to get my hands dirty, but I can put that off for now.
My immediate concerns are what appear to be glitches in the application, and that is the purpose of this post. I'm having problems with Sprites and Particles.
a) The wrong Sprites are playing. For instance, I'll select Plasma and Saturn and set them to Shuffle, but instead I get Sailboat and Astronaut. I've 'stopped all', 'started' again, 'stopped all' again, clicked off 'Shuffle', restarted… I've quit and restarted the application, trashed the pref file… no dice. All variations give the same results. The wrong Sprites are playing.
b) As for Particles, no matter how many I deselect, they – seemingly – ALL play. I say 'seemingly', but I really like 'Self Destruct' and it never plays. Anyway, there are several that I just don't care for, and so I've deselected them, but those Particles play anyway, regardless of whether they are un-checked. Again, I went through all the same motions as with the Sprites… to no avail.
I am curious why both Sprites and Particles are not controlled in the same fashion that Waveshapes, ColorMaps, and FlowFields are. Having them under the 'Quick Control' menu (where you can select them from the pop-up menu) makes more sense, doesn't it? WaveShapes, ColorMaps, and FlowFields ALWAYS work properly. If checked, they play, if unchecked, they don't... Why not apply the same method to Sprites and Particles.
Also, wouldn't it be nice to be able to have the control to make Sprites fade from one to the other… not just controls to adjust Duration/Frequency , but the control to be able to specify a time frame over which one transitions to another? The way it is now, there is either a blank background or just an abrupt change from one to another.
And speaking of 'Duration' and 'Frequency', having some actual numbers attached to those sliders would make them more meaningful.
On the plus side, I also purchased Aeon, and I find the G-Force Toolbar/Interface MUCH more intuitive than Aeon's. I don't care for that at all. Kind of clunky.. is it just me?
At any rate, anybody have any ideas on how to fix my Sprite/Particle problems? At present, I'm running iTunes 11.0.2 on Mountian Lion 10.8.2. equipped with an Nvidia GeForce 210.

Hi Hermes
I am trying to see if I am having the same issue, so far the stuff I have selected is the only stuff showing. Not having any troubles with the images either.
I am running windows 7, weird stuff happens to G-force.
I agree that the toolbar is a much better interface, why would I want to give up controlling G-force from another monitor. I am not good with keyboard shortcuts especially in the dark

Hello Hermes
There has been mention of this before, however I do not believe the issue was ever resolved.

After viewing the thread, and you still have a problem then contact SoundSpectrum, and open a support ticket.

BTT and juxtiphi, Thanks for your reposes. I've opened a support ticket and see where it goes. Just for a lark, I removed the factory Sprites from the folder and replaced them with my own Sprites. They still misfire. If I select #1 and #5, #2 and #4 play... strange. There has to be a fix for this.
Re: Problems with Sprites and Particles
If you add your own photos to Sprites like I do, in my experience it can take the program maybe 2-3 uses for your photo to pop up. I never knew if it had to do with the choice of music playing or the randomness of the algorithm itself.
Also if your Apple, Adobe Flash or Windows updates are out of date it definitely affects the visualizer outcome.

Slideshow Interval time < Sprite(Transition + Duration)
For Example:
- Slideshow Interval time: 20
- Sprite Transition: 7
- Sprite Duration: 15
UI sliders offer limited precision... Editing the Preference File is easier
But be warned, Sprites add significant addition load... and their transitions are the particularly expensive.

Here is a very easy way to help the cause: Buy either GF Gold or Platinum.rebeccas wrote:Do you take donations?
