Ummh I haven't tried recording GF using Fraps but maybe GF uses too little of the graphics card that Fraps needs what about Hypercam.

I have done alot of testing with camtasia and hypercam. In my hands hypercam works much better than camtasia. However I am trying to capture 800x600 at 30 fps on a P4, 1GBram, Radeon X800, SATA 7200 rpm drive. Hypercam doesn't always report dropped frames, so you may get sync problems on playback. Hypercam will correctly report the total number of frames captured though so you should check if this is the number of frames that you expect.
I wonder what the quality is of the darkroom for Mac... can't wait for darkroom for PC either!!

I experimented a lot with many screencapture programs: none of them worked satisfactory. I can't wait for Darkroom either! 'They' (I don't remember who) asked if I like to join beta testing: I didn't hear anything yet. I suppose no beta exists at this time. 'They' said Darkroom might be released this summer... Other priorities...

as it seems there is currently no Darkroom for pc, you might try River Past Screen Recorder. but since i have never used it personally (i may give it a shot soon), i cannot attest to it's quality or performance whilst recording G-Force, or anything at all for that matter. yet i have had experience with other River Past video software, and the results were quite satisfactory. good luck, and good day.

I use a modded Xbox (with G-Force) and the advanved A/V pack with a Humax DTR800 TiVo/DVD-R to record. Quality is good, concidering it is s-vid. I did try using Darkroom with PearPC, but it took about an hour per 5min of audio at 720x480 and 30fps. It works, but is extreamly slow and any errors would kill the whole process. I would love to see some OSX86 GF/DR tests, but I don't have or have access to an SSE2/3 processor. The spirit is willing, but the wallet is weak..

also, one might try a software named CherryOS, then install OS X, & then finally Darkroom. (as one can imagine, this may become quite the expensive project for a typical pc user.) CherryOS emulates Mac hardware, and with it, the pc's processor will run only @ ~80%, as CherryOS requires the remaining 20%. thus, this may not be a suitable option for many, as G-Force's performance relies overwhelmingly on the processor. again, i've not yet tested this method; it is only a suggestion.

I had similar troubles and then used a simple, but not graceful solution. I set up my video camera in front of my flat panel and just video'ed the damn thing. Ran a line out from the sound card to the mic input on the camera, played with the levels and focus a bit, and few people could possibly tell the difference....well we could, but the average audience...nope. Not a single dropped frame and no "pauses" in the video either. Later on I got really crazy and overlaid the digital version of the music using some video editing software....
