Hello DireWolf
That's about the same time I got started with computers with an Atari 800XL, a 1010 Cassette player/recorder and a 1050 Disk drive. Used to subscibe to two US magazines, Analog and Antic. Spent hours typing in the programs from the mags - those were the days.DireWolf wrote:As someone who has been in the tech industry since 1985 I have heard the death of this and the death of that many times so I just could not resist saying my 2 cents.

Frank and Andy at Soundspectrum,
Could you please give us a progress report?
Any indication of what or when to expect newer beta versions or official updates would be great!
Are there any pre-mentioned device announcements or new / upcoming product releases?
Thanks stacks in advance

Since it is now July, the site has recovered from the outages and downtime - and hopefully using a webhost who Actually backs up databases and data when it really counts;
It's now July.
The start of a new financial year..... 2015/2016
The month that Windows 10 will be released - featuring DirectX12.....
ANYWAY: Please....can we get an update on the progress + new projects, visualizer updates, work plans and any changes or new announcements...?
Will SS support / what may change in the way of full DirectX12 integration (for those of us with Hardware that will support the Full DX12 API and features) and the WDDM 2.0? (Windows Display Driver Model 2.0)
Can we expect any new features, functionality or higher quality visual effects, tiled resources / dual graphics capabilities for us with i5/i7 Intel HD Graphics CPU and a discrete GPU...?
Any information with some clarity and substance would be great
Thanks once again,
Alf

Hi!
It has indeed been a while since there was an update, so kindly allow me to offer what I can in response to all the loyal and supportive SS customers here!
Our iOS mobile app is coming along and is looking exciting, and it's called Tunr! The good news is that Tunr is packed with features and will genuinely fill a number of needs, but the reason there's needs to be met in this app space is because of the level of engineering required to make it happen. For example, the streaming/audio engine in our app features an advanced caching engine that absolutely minimizes network bandwidth demands since we tend to listen to a single pool of music at any given time. Other apps/audio providers have passed on this kind of engineering investment since bandwidth costs aren't something they ever have to pick up the tab for.
Tunr is full of quality features but is most importantly designed to be a steady workhorse for music listening on the go or at home when the social situation demands that you have the music and visuals you want to see the right mood.
We're anticipating that Tunr will allow SoundSpecturm to reenter an era of multiple engineers on payroll, but until then development pace is limited by our declining sales numbers on desktop. Until then, as shows like HBO's Silicon Valley depict, we meanwhile have to painfully watch a lot of silly "business" models attract millions+ in venture capital since they use the right buzzwords and promise streets paved with gold.
So I kindly ask the awesome soundspectrum family to continue to be patient until Tunr is ready to be shipped, which is looking more like the Fall at this point. I'll post to this thread when we're looking for beta testers. For me, I've been at more computer quite a lot and I can't tell you anxious I am to bring Tunr closer to release. Along the way, two months of time got lost in Feb/March when I was dealing with a back injury and had to get back surgery.
It sucks that there won't be an Android version at first, but this is something that will quickly change when we're finally able to release Tunr!
Best,

Hi Andy,
I hope you're feeling better and everything is fine.
I had a quick question regarding the desktop Aeon / G-Force projects.
Do you have a plan to make those programs compatible with Windows 10?
Will I have an issue using Aeon and G-force if I upgrade to Windows 10 by the end of this month? (I'm a desktop user)
Many Thanks.

Great to hear that the iOS and Android version of SS visualizers aka 'Tunr' is being developed, programmed and is a work in progress...
As for the desktop versions of SS visualizers, I have Aeon, G-Force and Whitecap Platinum licenses....
I've mentioned it before, if SS bundled all four viz's into a Platinum package and Gold Package License renewal special (obviously a little cheaper than the respective Platinum and Gold license bundles),
an upgrade offer page (where users may verify their active existing license keys for the bundle at a discounted price reflective of how many Platinum / Gold license keys are entered, remaining validity period, and how long is left on each license):
then this could result in a wider range of users and an attractive licensing option.
The 'Ultimate bundle' comes to mind as a name, as does the 'Maxi' license.
Finally, regarding SS visualizers and Windows 10 - I can only assume all will be compatible for the W10 release at the end of the month...
My enquiry relates to DirectX12 implementation, functionality and features.... are there any plans to roll out betas and official updates to take advantage of the newer technologies DX12 and WDDM 2.0 may offer?
Take care, keep well...

Thank You, Alf
Yes, I'm sure as Windows 10 approaches release, we'll see things work. If there are compatibility issues, SoundSpectrum is absolutely committed to making the necessary changes to ensure that our visuals run well on Windows 10. In the meantime, I want to stay out of that rabbit hole until Windows 10 actually ships.
When Tunr ships, you'll start to see SoundSpectrum shift from selling visuals as isolated products to a single vis that contains each of our visuals (and new visuals). Of course, those that own licenses in the update window will receive complimentary licenses. This will also be pretty cool since our visuals will intermingled with each other so that maybe one song shows G-Force and another shows a set of Aeon configs.
These changes are such that using new DX features don't offer much to us though I will definitely research the issue when we get to that point.

Thanks Andy and Frank for the prompt replies....
Great to know more about TunR, just wondering if a multi-visualizer in one will function as well? (hopefully not just predetermined presets like Milkdrop)
Obviously total uniqueness and on the fly visuals being generated in accordance with Audio types will make for an interesting single visualizer, TunR.
Cheers guys

I just wanted to confirm G-Force is running fine on Windows 10 full release - even the old 4.32 version, which I've been using religiously for the last 2-3 years. I finally just upgraded today to the latest version, after making sure G-force would still work OK in Windows 10. Thanks for this great product, and looking forward to seeing this new tunr thingy, too...

Windows 10 - license server connection problem
@FreyTheater
Which version did you install and if a licensed version did you need to do anything in particular to allow the connection to the license server?
@SoundSpectrum folks
Platinum versions of G-Force and Aeon I bought last week won't install on my Windows 10 (release version) computer. The trial versions work fine. But the Platinum versions fail to install at the point where it attempts to connect to the Soundspectrum license server. It's not that the license code is incorrect; it's that it's unable to connect to the license server to even be able to check it.
I completely "lowered the shields" on my computer, turning off Windows Defender, Windows SmartScreen, set User Access Control to lowest security setting, and even turned on Developer mode to allow all external apps to install. No joy. Still fails when it attempts to connect to the license server. I was able to install on a Windows 7 computer using the same network and router (but I rarely use that computer, and I will soon upgrade it to Windows 10 as well).
Thanks for your help (support ticket #62973).
