Newbie here

Post by g_randybrown »

So far I've purchased Soft Skies, Whitecap and G-Force (all Platinum) and really enjoy them.
I am a composer (mostly symphonic/cinematic stuff) and I do video post production in Sony Vegas Pro.
What I want to do with SS is record (with Bandicam screen recorder) individual soloed instruments from my music (ie the piano part) and then layer those multiple video tracks (using chroma key in Vegas to get rid of background/make transparent and then use track motion to move the SS image around as desired).
I've been successful with some tests but need to be able to control SS more ...ie only seeing/recording the waveshape...I've read the FAQs and other info til my head hurts (especially trying to use scripting...arrgh!)
In G-force I got excited for a second when I thought I had discovered how to mute the other attributes (?) by making the green button in the toolbar red instead of green but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Also, I'd like to have the texts (showing title of song/artist) to not show at all but can't seem to be able to find a way to turn that off.
I would very much appreciate any advice anyone could give me!
Thanks very much,
Randy

Hello g_randybrown

Which version of G-Force are you using?

I could probably figure out how to answer that after some research but it would be very much appreciated if you could tell me exactly how to find that info.
Thanks very much,
Randy

Hello g_randybrown

When G-Force starts you see a splash screen, on the lower half you will see the version you have.

Hello g_randybrown

Like everything it's easy when you know. Now, let me get this right. You only want WaveShapes to appear in G-Force when it's running in normal mode, and nothing else is that it?

First of all, thanks very much for responding so quickly to this thread.
Yes, I think that along with being able to solo other attributes would be most helpful!
Thanks again,
Randy

Hello g_randybrown

Try this Via Toolbar:

(Red) Waveshape->(None) // You PROBABLY don't want to do THIS (ever)!!!, but if ...
(Red) ColorMap->White on Black // Maybe???
(Red) Flowfield->(Empty) // First dropdown list entry

Open PARTICLES, IMAGES, AND VIDEO (Windowshade) - UNCHECK "Shuffle checked (Particles|Sprites)" - "Stop All"

Settings->Text Track Duration->(Track Text Disabled)
.

Thanks very much BTT, this helped me get a much better grasp of what I can control.
I'll probably be back but this info really helps!
Thanks again,
Randy

Well I'm back already...I can't seem to be able to find what I've seen before (prior to making these tweaks).
I love that I can narrow down the visuals to a single element but what I can't find that I've seen in other themes is a waveshape (I'm guessing it was a wave shape anyway) that looks kind of like an oscilloscope display (see link below for clarification).
Whatever it was I saw was very responsive to each note played by a piano.
What I'm trying as per your settings (waveshapes only) is very slow and doesn't seem responsive to the dynamics of the piano part being played.

EDIT by BTT - Links are not allowed on the forum except for SS links

Since you guys are most likely able to imagine what I'm looking for (you being into visualizers also) I think I can explain myself better if you will listen to the 3rd piece (titled "Gun Control") at my soundcloud page.

EDIT by BTT - Links other than SS links are not allowed on the forum.

Now imagine taking some of those soloed tracks (ie piano, guitar, etc) into G-force...recording them and then bringing them into a NLE (like Sony Vegas) and manipulating each individual track (placement, size, etc).
My point being, whatever I use would need to be responsive to the notes/dynamics played (not just slowly floating around).
At some point I would also record some of the very cool backgrounds in G-force to go underneath all of the active/responsive tracks.
Man I hope that all makes sense...I think it would be pretty cool and unusual if I can make this happen.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Randy

Hello g_randybrown

You will note I have removed the links you posted as it's forum policy not to allow links other than to SoundSpectrum pages.

I have nothing else to offer you other than suggest you contact SoundSpectrum support.

http://www.soundspectrum.com/support/contact.html

Although to be honest with you I don't really think they will be able to help you with what you want to achieve. I honestly thought the info for the settings via the toolbar would have helped, at least we tried.

Sorry, I've never experienced a forum that doesn't allow links...maybe to a competitor's site or something considered as spam sure but the links I provided were an effort to demonstrate my point.
As I mentioned, I very much appreciate your help and it did get me closer to what I'm striving to accomplish...I was just hoping a forum like this would be interested in taking the capabilities of SS a step further.
Thanks again,
Randy

We're still waiting for some "old" capabilities to be reimplemented.
