SoundSpectrum Update!

My Take exactly, I can see the benefits of having music and movies on your phone but to stare at a small screen to enjoy a vis seems counter productive and kinda boring.DireWolf wrote:I am curious to see how popular a mobile app visualizer is going to be for SS. When I think of people who run visuals when listening to music its always on a big screen TV or at least a computer monitor, not looking at their phone.
I can tell you that this is one of the most popular requests that we get, which is what lead to the development of Tunr.
I would assume that people would like to use their tablets to view the visualizer, rather than their phones.
But, they may also want watch something while they're bored on the bus, stuck in traffic, etc. There's a lot of times where we're bored, listening to music, and have our phones with us.
I also believe that the portability of a mobile product is attractive. Maybe you have a TV, but no extra long HDMI cable. Or, you're a VJ that doesn't want to haul a laptop everywhere you goes. Or, you want to set up multiple monitors to display a visualizer, but don't have the network infrastructure to push the visualizer to multiple displays. Buying a cheap mobile device, and a short display adapter would be a workaround for all of these issues.
Finally, when you make a product, you don't make the product just for your existing users. You also want to appeal to a broader crowd to introduce them to your ecosystem. This is why Google has so many spin-off products, or why fast food restaurants sell salads.
Of course, your concern is our concern, too. However, if you read Andy's original post announcing Tunr, you'll see that we believe that it is worth the risk and that the time has come to make a move into the popular mobile market.
I hope that's helpful!

Just a couple of questions for SS (Frank, Andy, etc)
1. If new Tunr members look into the version history of other SS offerings (visualizers),
wouldn't it be disheartening to see only one update for the most recent 12 months....
maybe this alone could discourage potential new customers by inferring that updates and upgraded features and content are historically scarce.
2. When can we expect updates / new content for current SS visualizers...?
Furthermore can we please have fixes for some annoying current bugs / glitches
a) There is a bug with Whitecap patterns overlapping Cover Art and the text Song titles...
b) There is a bug with all visualizers - when maximizing it in either media players or standalone
versions in the top left a text notification comes up.... "Undefined Function 'refresh' "
c) There is a bug in G-Force where the image onscreen in the visualizer doesn't seem to clear it's previous cache,
and sticks frozen for half a second when re-minimizing the screen from full screen to player size (Windows Media Player)
Thanks faithfully in advance,
Alf in Australia

Hi Ozbeats!
Absolutely my opinion. The last "Update" was a joke.
A little bit technical cosmetics but nothing new (I guess it was made by the customer to calm down a little).
I as a customer feel pulled me across the table (is this correct english?I'm from Germany and it means "be tricked").
I said it once before: Soundspectrum is dead!

Hello All
The release of the mobile app has as I understand it been delayed again, don't know why.
Regarding the proper PC visual software, nothing seems to be in the pipe line. I have sixty plus new Colormaps I am hoping will interest SoundSpectrum.
All the effort that's going into the mobile app is in my opinion loosing the company many regular customers. I believe SoundSpectrum should put the mobile app on hold, and give G-Force, and the others some much needed attention.

Hi guys,
I hear you, we'd like to get back to updating our products more frequently. If fixing bugs and compatibility isn't up to snuff, what would you like in a new update? I'd love to hear what our users would want, so that we can "wow" you.
Note that this isn't a promise to get a new update in the near future, but more about better supporting our customers. Please don't get upset if we don't include your suggestion. Remember that that you are one user amongst 4.5 million, so additions must be weighed carefully.
As for Tunr, we haven't set any firm release dates, as far as I know. Most of it comes from good stuff (we have backing from a big player in the music provider industry), but some of it comes from the unpredictable nature of software development. Believe me, we're as ready for this to ship as you are.
As for the bugs, I'm aware of them, but they didn't seem significantly detrimental to the user experience to address yet. Is that third bug (2c) reproducible to anyone else? Ozbeats, would you mind writing me a support request with the details of your system and version of G-Force? Any other media players that have this issue would be helpful as well.
Thanks!

Hi Frank,
I've just used NVidia "Share" aka "Shadowplay' screen capture to record this issue regarding G-Force minimization errors,
when maximized full-screen and returning to minimized, the previous minimized visual configs stick or hang.
So far the glitch also affects Winamp, but only by half a second.....
Obviously Windows Media Player x64 version and standard 32-bit versions are affected..... screen sticks for up to 1 second, as you'll see in video....
I-Tunes x64 version doesn't seem to be affected, a half a second blank screen smooths out any potential glitch.
I have sent in a support ticket with the YouTube link to the footage....
Anytime after midnight US Eastern, 9PM PST it should be watchable.......
Here are my system specs:
Intel Core i7 CPU 4770 @ 3.4Ghz, 3.9Ghz Turbo
16 GB of DDR3 System Memory or on-board RAM
Custom Build x64-based PC
Motherboard: AsROCK H81M-DGS R2.0
Motherboard BIOS Version: 1.60 31st July 2015
Monitor / Display: 32 inch Toshiba in 1080p LCD model: 32RV600A
Soundcard: Realtek ALC662 HD Audio with Direct X 12.0
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
GPU: Nvidia ASUS STRIX GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 4GB SM5, DX11.2 DX12 DX12.1
Storage: Samsung EVO 250GB SSD for OS and 3 TB HDD for Programs, etc
Current Total Windows Experience Index Rating: 8.2
Asus GPU Tweak and Rapid Mode enabled on Samsung EVO SSD
Hope this all helps,
Thanks,
Alf

No more Quicktime, removed it from my desktop PC last week when the vulnerabilities were first publicized.... on PC and IT websites.
Also removed it from my Laptop just yesterday, Trend Micro has issued an email alert warning Windows users are no longer supported,
unlike Apple users who are still supported and unaffected
Cheers BTT
